Records form part of the Court of Session: Productions in Process. Presumably the records were required as evidence in the court process.

Letterbook 1795-1836: Ships owned include 'Lovely Nellie'; brigantines 'Duchess of Buccleuch' (eventually wrecked at Trondheim), 'Alexander' (sold at Memel), 'John and Nancy'; sloops 'Samuel', 'Margaret', 'Barbara and Agnes'; 'Erin-qu-bragh' (wrecked at Lochcarron). Insurance of voyages on coastal trade of Great Britain and Ireland, from Leghorn, to Norway and Sweden; insurers in London and Liverpool. Ships carry kelp and beechwood to Liverpool; herrings ('catched with wide nets'), ling and cod fish to Belfast and Dublin; oatmeal (also acquired locally) from Belfast, Dundalk, Drogheda; coal and salt from Liverpool; brimstone from Sicily (Mediterranean voyage was unprofitable); iron and timber from Gothenburg; tar from Archangel; a milk cow from Dublin; ship building materials including cordage, timber, canvas, nails. Also trading and dealing in house building materials, Easdale slates, leather, flax, wool, barrel staves, glasses, cloth, carpeting, crockery, bear, sugar, potatoes, cheese and other provisions

Sloop captured by privateers illegally sold at Elsinore. Sloop 'Robina' of Kirkwall repaired at Stornoway on voyage from Norway to Ireland. 150 passengers to sail to Prince Edward Island or Nova Scotia. Mackenzie appointed Herring Fishery officer at Stornoway. Claim in respect of Isle of Lewis Volunteers.

Account book 1822-1832 Accounts with other ship-owners; housebuilders and joiners; servants; lodgers and tenants; former servants of Hudson's Bay Company. Note of cattle sent to the Moor of Tong.
