The business was established in c1920 by George Morrison, trading as George Morrison and later George Morrison & Sons as a general merchants and draper. The shop began selling radios and by 1935 had become D D Morrison & Co when it developed into retailing branded electrical goods and later becoming agents for Philips Cycles. The company passed to the son of Donald D Morrison.
