The letters deal with the personal concerns of the correspondents and their neighbours, local church affairs and literary matters. The collection includes a letter of John Macpherson to Alexander Macdonald of Boisdale, 1749 and one of Donald Macleod, an Anglo-Indian settled at Achangol, near Inverary in 1797 describing his experiences on coming home and his activities in farming
