Lochmaddy Hotel is the oldest hotel in North Uist. Traditionally, it has been a base for hunting and fishing parties as well as the modern tourist trade. The building is property of the North Uist Estate and is leased to tenants to operate as a going concern.

The current occupiers, John and Lorna Docherty, have held the hotel since 2008. As well as providing accommodation, meals and a public bar they also operate fishing permits on behalf of the North Uist Estate to guests
