Administrative history
Cladh Hallan in a burial site situated on the machair to the west of Daliburgh and is believed to have been in use since the 18th century. The graveyard is managed and maintained by the church and community.
The idea to digitise the burial records was first initiated by the late Very Reverend John Angus Canon Galbriath (d. 2006), Curate (1971-1977) and Parish Priest (1991-2006) of St. Peter's RC Church, Daliburgh. This idea began in the early 90's, when Canon Galbraith returned to St. Peter's from Oban to serve as Parish Priest. This resulted in a project to map the location of each grave, document those buried and link this data with information from burial registers, obituaries and local knowledge into an online resource. The results of this successful project have been published at http://www.hallancemeterysouthuist.co.uk/
